Pic shows: The mother killer with her child. Police have arrested a young mother for allegedly killing her two baby children because their crying kept interrupting her drinking session. Alyona Rusandrova, 24, is accused of murdering her one-year-old daughter and a four-month-old son at their home in the city of Magnitogorsk in central Russia’s Chaliabinsk Oblast region. She allegedly strangled her son with her bare hands, and then pushed her daughter's face into her pillow until she suffocated. Rusandova and her husband, whose name has not been released, are said to have carried on drinking spirits in the apartment after she killed the children. They eventually left the apartment, reportedly turning on the gas as they left in an attempt to convince police that the deaths were a tragic accident caused by a gas leak. But police quickly worked out the truth when the children's bodies were discovered and the couple were found and arrested within three hours. Neighbours said that Rusandrova had been suffering from severe depression since the death of her mother in 2014 and had been drinking heavily ever since. She had written on her social media profile: "My mother is no longer there, my life is passing by like a shadow." However, one of Rusandrova's acquaintances, who asked to remain anonymous, insisted that the young woman had lost her mind. Police spokesman Konstantin Vuevich said the police investigation was continuing and that the mother faced murder charges while the husband also faced serious charges. Officers were currently deciding whether or not they would be remanded in custody or bailed until the case goes to court. He said: "Currently we are investigating. We are working on deciding what to do with them." The couple also have two older children – son Egor, aged five, and a four-year-old daughter, Vasilina, who live with their grandparents.
